Attention! Be especially careful when working in the engine compartment.
When working in the engine compartment, adhere to the following recommendations.
Turn off the engine, remove the ignition key from the lock.
Apply the parking brake.
Set the gear lever to neutral position, the automatic transmission control selector to position «R».
Let the engine cool down.
While the engine is hot:
- Avoid getting your hands in the rotation zone of the engine cooling fan - it may suddenly start to rotate;
- do not open the cap of the coolant expansion tank, the cooling system is under pressure.
Avoid spilling liquids on a hot engine as they may ignite.
Avoid short-circuiting electrical circuits, especially on the battery.
When carrying out inspection work on a running engine, beware of rotating parts (e.g. V-belt pulleys, alternator, cooling fan blades, etc.) and high voltage in the ignition system.
Do not confuse liquids when topping them up - this will lead to serious disruptions in the operation of units and systems.
In order to detect oil and liquid leaks in a timely manner, it is necessary to regularly inspect the parking space under the car. If there are stains of oil or operating fluid, check the tightness of the units and vehicle systems at the service station.
When servicing or repairing the fuel system or electrical equipment, be sure to follow these guidelines:
- always disconnect the battery from the on-board network;
- do not smoke near the engine;
- never work near an open flame;
- always keep «at hand» proper fire extinguisher.
