Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Open the tailgate and remove the door trim and dust and moisture protection film.
Through the hole in the inner door panel, release the plastic clips and disconnect the outer door handle rods and the lock cylinder from the lock.
All rods are secured to the lock with plastic clamps, which must be removed with force and moved away from the rod, then the rod must be pulled out of the clamp hole.
On doors with electrically powered locks, disconnect the electrical connectors from the lock.

Remove the lock mounting screws and remove the lock hole in the inner door panel (figure 14.44). On pre-2001 models, remove the four plastic caps and screws.
Install the trunk lid lock in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
Fix the dust and moisture protection film, installing it without folds or tears. The surface to which the dust and moisture protective film is applied must be perfectly clean.
