Brake light switch

The switch and the switch location are indicated by arrows.

Check and replace

1. The switch is located above the brake pedal.

2. If the switch does not close the contacts, check the fuse and brake light bulbs.

3. If these parts are in good condition, then check for voltage at the switch.

4. If there is no voltage, check the wires. Otherwise, make sure that when you press the pedal, voltage appears on the second contact. If there is no voltage, replace the switch. If voltage appears, but the lamps do not light, check the circuit from the switch to the lamps.

5. To replace, remove the lower steering column trim, disconnect the wires from the switch, unscrew the lock nut and remove the switch.

6. Install the switch in reverse order. Adjust the switch.
