Examination
1. During operation, maintenance of this unit is not required. It is only necessary to check the condition of the hose and amplifier housing.
2. To check the operation of the amplifier, press the brake pedal several times with the engine not running. Pedal travel should not change with each press (checked by the distance to the floor).
3. Press the pedal and start the engine - the pedal should move forward a little.
4. Start the engine, stop after 1-2 minutes. Press the pedal with force several times, the pedal travel should gradually decrease.
5. Start the engine and step on the pedal. Keeping the pedal depressed, stop the engine - within 30 seconds after stopping, the position of the pedal should not change.
6. If the amplifier is faulty, then it will lie down to be replaced.
Removing
1. Disconnect the hose from the booster (indicated by an arrow).
2. Loosen the master cylinder nuts and carefully remove the master cylinder from the studs.
3. In the cabin, unpin the axle and unhook the pedal spring (the axis of the pusher and the spring are indicated by arrows). Get an axis and disconnect a plug of a pusher from a pedal.
4. Loosen the booster nuts (indicated by arrows) to the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
5. Gently feed the booster and remove when the studs come out of the baffle.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Replace axle pin. Adjust the brake pedal.
2. If a new unit is installed, then adjust the protrusion of the master cylinder pusher above the amplifier housing. To do this, do the following.
3. Measure the protrusion of the pusher, taking into account the gasket (1 - gap). This is dimension A. There should be no gap between the pusher and the piston of the cylinder, otherwise the brake pedal travel will increase. On the other hand, the pusher should not rest excessively against the piston, as braking will be incomplete.
4. Measure the distance from the end face of the master cylinder to the flange. This is size B.
5. Measure the distance from the end face of the cylinder to the bottom of the piston recess. This is size S.
6. The clearance between the pusher and the piston is (B - C) - A. Adjust the protrusion of the pusher by turning the tip of the pusher. Set protrusion A so that the gap is 0.
