Replace the battery as follows.
Turn off the ignition.
On 2001 and later models, remove the hood.
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery first, then the positive cable.
Remove the 2 nuts, lift the cross clamp and remove the battery from the vehicle.
Check the condition of the battery support bracket for signs of corrosion. If there is corrosion, rinse it with water and sodium bicarbonate. Then rinse the support bracket with plenty of water and dry it.
If the battery is replaced, install a new battery with the same capacity as recommended by the manufacturer.
Position the battery so that the notch in the base of the battery aligns with the hole in the support bracket.
Install the cross clamp and secure with nuts, but do not overtighten them to avoid damaging the battery case.
Check that the battery is securely fastened, otherwise the battery life may be reduced.
Connect the positive terminal to the battery first, then the negative one and secure them by tightening the mounting nuts to a torque of 5 N·m.
