Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Remove the alternator drive belt.

Disconnect the wires and electrical connectors from the generator (figure 15.16, 15.17)

On pre-2001 models, remove the adjuster and pivot bolts.

On 2001 and later models, remove the alternator mounting bolts (figure 15.18).
Remove the generator from the vehicle.
Install the generator in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
If a new generator is being installed, transfer the pulley from the old generator to it.
Check the voltage produced by the generator.
