Removing
Removal in the following order:
- turn off the ignition and disconnect the wire «masses» from the storage battery;
- disconnect the wide hose from the cylinder head cover;
- pulling up and turning at the same time, remove the tips with high-voltage wires from the spark plugs;
- clean the spark plugs with a jet of compressed air, which will prevent dirt from entering the engine cylinder after the spark plugs are turned out. Remove the spark plugs;
- unscrew the screws securing the wiring harness to the toothed belt housing and take the wiring harness to the side;
- release the clamp securing the accelerator cable to the intake manifold and move it to the side;
Pic. 3.2. Arrangement of round nuts of fastening of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders to tubes for spark plugs
- remove the round nuts securing the cylinder head cover to the spark plug tubes (pic. 3.2);
- remove the cylinder head cover. If it is tight, knock it down with a mallet or insert a pry bar between the cylinder head and cover and pry it up.
Attention! When using a pry bar, do not damage the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and cover, otherwise engine oil will leak at the damaged area.
Installation
Install in the following order:
- clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and cover. Remove the old gasket and sealant with a plastic scraper, then clean the surfaces with a solvent. If traces of gasket or engine oil remain on the surfaces, then after installing the cover, there may be oil leaks in these places;
Pic. 3.3. Places for applying RTV sealant to the cylinder head
- Apply a coat of RTV Sealant to the eight locations shown in Figure 3.3. Install the spark plug tube seals into the cover so that the indexes on the seals point towards the toothed belt;
- install a new cover gasket on the head, then install the cylinder head cover and secure it with round nuts, tightening them in several equal passes.
Further installation of the cover is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
