Removal
Remove the exhaust manifold on a cold engine in the following order:
- turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery;
- release the oxygen sensor wires from the clamps. If a new exhaust manifold is being installed, remove the oxygen sensor.

- unscrew the bolts (figure 3.8) and remove the exhaust manifold heat shield;
- apply a release agent to the exhaust manifold mounting nuts to make them easier to remove;
- disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold;

- unscrew the nuts and bolts (figure 3.9) and remove the exhaust manifold support. Some models are equipped with two exhaust manifold supports;

- unscrew the nuts (figure 3.10) and remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.
Installation
Perform installation in the following order:
- use a scraper to remove any remaining old gasket and soot deposits from the mating surfaces of the exhaust manifold and cylinder head;
- install a new exhaust manifold gasket onto the cylinder head studs;
- install the exhaust manifold and secure it with nuts. Tighten the nuts in several passes, starting from the center and moving in a spiral.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
