Types of repairs performed without removing the engine from the car [Toyota 4Runner N120]

Without removing the engine from the vehicle, the following work can be performed:

• replace gaskets and seals;
• remove mounted units and assemblies for replacement or repair;
• carry out repairs (or replacement) cylinder head, oil pump, valve drive mechanism, drive parts of attachment units;
• carry out adjustment work.

The balance shaft, crank mechanism, pistons and rings are changed after dismantling the engine (see subsection 3.3.5).
