Attention! Work is carried out on a cold engine.
Removal and installation
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. On engines equipped with PAIR-system (pulse fuel injection system) remove the system of pipes and valves located next to the manifold.
3. Loosen the bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove heat shields.
4. Moisten the exhaust manifold nuts and bolts and the exhaust pipe-to-manifold nuts with penetrating fluid. After wetting, unscrew the nuts securing the exhaust pipe (see subsection 5.12).
5. Loosen nuts and bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove the manifold and gasket.
6. Clean the split planes of the manifold and cylinder head from the remnants of the gasket material and carbon deposits. If there are signs of leakage through the gasket, then check the deformation of the split manifold plane in a specialized workshop, grind if necessary.
7. Put a new gasket on the cylinder head studs.
Attention! The marks on the gasket must face away from the cylinder head.
8. Install the manifold and tighten the bolts and nuts in their original places.
9. Tighten nuts and bolts in three to four steps to the specified torque (listed in subsection 3.1.1). Tighten the bolts and nuts from the center to the periphery of the manifold.
10. Install the rest of the parts in the reverse order of disassembly.
11. Start the engine and check the tightness of the exhaust manifold connections.
