Low oil pressure may indicate the need for engine repair. The oil pressure warning light is used to signal that the oil pressure is dangerously low. Even the pressure gauge on the instrument cluster only shows relative pressure. Oil pressure must be checked by a certified mechanical (not electric) pressure gauge.
The oil pressure sensor is installed at the end of the cylinder head on the side opposite to the gas distribution mechanism drive. Unscrew the sensor and screw in the manometer hose tip instead.
Connect a tachometer to the engine in accordance with the operating instructions supplied with it.
Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. Check oil pressure at idle speed and at 3000 min-1. If the pressure is lower than required, the clearance in the crankshaft bearings may be increased or the oil pump may be faulty.
