Typical tread pattern for abnormal tire wear
1. Insufficient tire pressure; 2. Uneven wear due to violation of the angles of the front wheels; 3. Reinforced lateral tread wear; 4. Increased tire pressure; 5. Lateral angular tread wear (wheel misalignment)
Causes and remedies
Check pressure and restore to normal.
Disbalance, deformation of the disc - balance the wheel and replace the disc.
Worn or excessive play in the pendulum arm or rods - repair.
Repair or replace suspension parts.
The condition of the tires can provide important information about the condition of the suspension and steering even before serious damage is discovered.
1. Tire wear can be checked with the tread depth indicator. A special bandage is mounted in the tires, which becomes visible with a residual tread depth of 1.6 mm.
2. Watch your tire tread pattern (see fig. Typical tread pattern for abnormal tire wear). Visual signs of uneven tread wear shown in the pictures indicate the need to adjust the alignment angles or balance the wheels. If you find a deviation in tire wear from normal, you should take the car to a car service.
3. Check your tires regularly for cuts or bulges, and remove stones or sharp objects stuck in the tread. If there is a slight decrease in tire pressure, then check the tightness of the inflation valve.
4. If there is a suspicion that the tire is punctured, then check the place of a possible puncture with a soapy solution. Raise the car from the side of the flat tire and, turning the wheel, wash it with the solution. In the event of a leak, bubbles will form.
5. Carefully check the inner side surfaces of the tires, watch for traces of brake fluid leakage on them.
6. Check and maintain tire pressure periodically.
7. Pressure is checked on cold tyres. Term "cold" means that 3 hours before the pressure measurement, the car made one trip over a distance of 1.5 km.
8. Unscrew the valve cap (located on the tire or under the wheel cover) and firmly press the pressure gauge against the valve. Read the pressure gauge readings and compare with the standard (indicated on the manufacturer's plate affixed to the opening pillar on the driver's side). If necessary, restore the pressure to normal.
9. Keep in mind that the pressure in the compact spare tire is much higher than the pressure in the standard tires.
