Disconnect the cable from the hood release lever.
On 2001 and later models, remove the instrument panel dimmer bracket.
On pre-2001 models, release the upper clip and remove the fuse panel from the lower left trim panel.

Remove the screws, tilt the lower left trim panel up and release the clips located behind the panel (figure 14.50).
If necessary, remove the screws and remove the lower left trim panel reinforcement.
Install the lower left trim panel in the reverse order of removal.
