Removal the instrument panel backlight rheostat on pre-2001 models
It is produced as follows.
Remove the instrument panel.
Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the rheostat.
Removal the instrument panel backlight rheostat on models from 2001 onwards
Proceed as follows.

Using a screwdriver blade as a lever, pry the hazard warning light switch out of the instrument panel (see Figure 15.26). To avoid scratching the instrument panel, wrap the screwdriver blade with tape or a rag.

Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the rheostat (figure 15.28).
Install the instrument panel backlight rheostat of both types in the reverse order of removal.
