Warning! Vehicles are equipped with safety systems (SRS), including airbags and seat belt tensioners. Before working near the impact sensors, instrument panel, and steering column, disconnect the negative and then positive terminals from the battery and wait 2 minutes. This will prevent unauthorized deployment of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, which could cause injury.
Remove the radio receiver as follows.
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

On pre-2001 models, remove the screws and radio trim panel (figure 15.35).
On 2001 and later models, remove the instrument panel center trim.

Remove the screws and pull the radio out to access the electrical connectors and antenna plug located on the back of the radio (figure 15.36). Disconnect the electrical connectors and antenna plug, and remove the radio from the vehicle.
Install the radio receiver in the reverse order of removal.
