Attention! Vehicles are equipped with safety systems (SRS), including airbags and seat belt tensioners. Before working near the impact sensors, instrument panel, and steering column, disconnect the negative and then positive terminals from the battery and wait 2 minutes. This will prevent unauthorized deployment of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, which could cause injury.
Replace the ignition lock and cylinder as follows:
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ACC position.
Remove the steering wheel.
Remove the steering column covers.
Remove the combination steering column switches.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch.

Using a small screwdriver, press the release in the ignition switch housing and use the key to remove the ignition switch cylinder (figure 15.23).
To install the ignition lock cylinder, press the latch and, with the latch in this position, insert the lock cylinder into the ignition lock housing, while the latch should enter the hole and secure the cylinder in the ignition lock housing.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
