Removal and installation the windshield wiper motor [Toyota RAV4 XA10]

To remove the windshield wiper motor, proceed as follows:

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Mark the position of the wiper blades on the windshield, then remove the plug, unscrew the nuts and remove the wiper arms (figure 15.31).

On the rear wiper arm, lift the cap off the base of the arm, remove the nut and remove the wiper arm.

Disconnect the windshield washer hose from the wiper arm.

Proceed as follows to remove the front wiper motor:
  • release the clips and remove the ventilation chamber deflector located at the base of the windshield;

  • disconnect the electrical connector from the windshield wiper motor and remove the windshield wiper mechanism mounting nuts (figure 15.32);
  • remove the windshield wiper mechanism from the ventilation chamber;

  • remove the bolts and remove the motor from the windshield wiper mechanism (figure 15.33);

Proceed as follows to remove the rear wiper motor:

  • remove the trunk lid trim;

  • disconnect the electrical connector, remove the bolts and remove the rear window wiper motor (figure 15.34).

Install the windshield wiper motors in the reverse order of removal.
