Fig. 1.41. Values of the permitted gross vehicle weight and the maximum permissible load on the rear axle
The towing capacity of the vehicle is determined for driving at sea level. If you are going to tow a trailer (trailer) in a mountainous area, keep in mind that the engine power, therefore, the towing capacity of the car will decrease.
Attention! The sum of the unladen weight of the vehicle, the weight of the driver, passengers, luggage, towing equipment and the load on the towing hitch must not exceed the permitted gross vehicle weight by more than 100 kg. Exceeding this value is dangerous. The permitted vehicle weight is indicated on the manufacturer's plate (Fig. 1.41).
Warning! The rear axle load must not exceed the maximum permissible by more than 15%. Exceeding this value is dangerous. The permitted vehicle weight is indicated on the manufacturer's plate (see fig. 1.41).
Warning! If the permitted gross vehicle weight or permitted rear axle load is exceeded, do not exceed 100 km/h or the local speed limit when towing (depending on which of these values is smaller).
Please note: Toyota recommends installing only genuine towing brackets and towing hitch.
Fig. 1.42. Dimensions for installation of the towing hitch
The dimensions for installing the towing brackets and the towing hitch are shown in Fig. 1.42, and their values are given in Table 1.1.
