In order to ensure reliable operation of the car during the entire period of operation, perform maintenance in a timely manner. The manufacturer has set the maintenance intervals shown below.
If the vehicle is used in severe conditions such as dusty conditions, trailering, low speeds or a lot of short trips, it is recommended to reduce the service intervals.
In the event that maintenance is performed irregularly, the normal operation of the units and devices of the car is disrupted. This is especially true of a used car engine that has not been subjected to regular or timely checks. In such cases, in addition to periodic maintenance, additional adjustment work must be carried out.
If there are suspicions of engine wear, then to obtain preliminary information about the state of the engine cylinder-piston group, check the compression. Based on this information, you can get an idea of the scope and degree of complexity of the upcoming work. If, for example, the results of a compression measurement clearly indicate severe engine wear, then routine maintenance will not restore normal performance, and all work will be inappropriate. Such an engine will require a major overhaul with complete disassembly.
Irregular maintenance can cause poor engine performance. In such a case, do the following:
- clean, inspect and test the battery;
- check oil and coolant levels, top up if necessary;
- replace spark plugs;
- check the condition and tension of the V-ribbed belts;
- check the condition of the air filter, replace it if necessary;
- check the condition of all hoses (branch pipes) and their tightness;
- check the condition of the cover and rotor of the ignition distributor and high-voltage wires, if necessary, replace worn parts;
- check the power supply system;
- check the power system.
The scope of maintenance work performed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations is described below.
Weekly or every 400 km
- Check engine oil level.
- Check coolant level.
- Check the brake fluid level.
- Check fluid level in automatic transmission.
- Check for fluid in the washer fluid reservoir.
- Check the fluid level in the power steering.
- Check the condition of the tires and the air pressure in them.
- Check the condition of the battery.
Operations performed every 5000 km or 3 months
- Perform all of the above operations and additionally do the following.
- Change engine oil.
- Replace oil filter.
- On four-wheel drive vehicles, tighten the driveshaft connections.
Operations performed every 12,000 km or 6 months
- Perform all of the above operations, and additionally do the following.
- Check and, if necessary, replace the wiper blades.
- Check clutch pedal free play.
- Check the electrolyte level in the battery if the battery design allows it. Top up with distilled water if needed.
- Check the condition of the drive belts.
- Check hoses for damage.
- Check coolant level and density.
- Check the remaining tread depth and wear pattern on all tires, including the one mounted on the spare wheel. Check and, if necessary, correct the air pressure in the tires.
- Check the condition of the seat belts.
Operations performed every 24,000 km or 12 months
Note. * If the vehicle is used in severe conditions, perform the service marked with an asterisk (*), in the interval of 5000 km.
Note. Severe conditions are:
- - towing a trailer or trailer;
- - constant operation of the car at low speeds;
- - operation of the car in a very dusty area;
- - a large number of trips over a distance of less than 7 km.
Perform all of the above operations, and additionally do the following.
- * Check the thickness of the front and rear brake pads.
- * Check that the brake fluid level matches the actual wear of the brake pads.
- Check the brake system for leaks and damage.
- * Replace the air filter.
- Check the fuel system for leaks and damage.
- Check the oil level in the manual transmission.
- On all-wheel drive vehicles with automatic transmission, check the oil level in the transfer case.
- * Check the condition of the suspension and steering.
- Check up on absence of damages protective covers of hinges of constant angular speeds.
- On four-wheel drive vehicles, check the oil level in the rear final drive.
- On vehicles from 2001, replace the cabin ventilation filter.
Operations performed every 50,000 km or 24 months
Note. ** Operations marked with two asterisks (**), perform every 24,000 km if one of the following conditions is present during operation of the vehicle:
- - operation of the car at an air temperature of more than 32°C;
- - towing a trailer or trailer;
- - operation of the vehicle in hilly or mountainous terrain.
Perform all of the above operations, and additionally do the following.
- Change brake fluid.
- Replace fuel filter.
- Check condition and replace spark plugs if necessary.
- Check the condition and, if necessary, replace the high voltage wires of the spark plugs.
- Drain the coolant, flush the cooling system and refill with fresh coolant.
- Check the fuel vapor recovery system.
- Check the exhaust system for tightness, leaks and damage.
- **Change oil and filter in automatic transmission.
- **Change the oil in the manual transmission.
