Adjusting idle speed and maximum speed of a diesel engine [Toyota Carina T190]

1. Check that the accelerator cable returns to its original position and make sure that the idle speed adjustment screw contacts the adjustment lever.



2. Measure the idle speed.

• Rotation speed - 750-850 rpm

3. If there is any discrepancy, adjust.

a) Loosen the locknut.

b) Turn the idle speed adjustment screw to set the nominal value.

• Nominal value - 800 rpm

4. Measure the maximum no-load speed.

• Nominal speed - 5300-5400 rpm

5. If there is any discrepancy, adjust.

a) Remove the maximum speed mark.

b) Turn the adjustment screw to set the maximum rotation speed.

• Maximum rotation speed - 5400 rpm

c) After adjustment, set the mark.
