It is recommended to disassemble the engine on a special stand. If there is no stand, install the engine on a flat horizontal surface.

If you purchase a refurbished engine, you must remove all attachments and install them in exactly the same order on the new engine. These units include:
  • exhaust emission control elements;
  • distributor (only on engines before 1997);
  • high-voltage wires and ignition coils;
  • thermostat and thermostat cover;
  • water pump (only on engines since 2001);
  • bypass pipe of the cooling system;
  • intake and exhaust manifolds;
  • oil filter;
  • supports;
  • flywheel/drive plate.

If you purchase an incomplete cylinder block, you must remove and install it on the new engine:
  • timing belt or timing chain of a gas distribution mechanism;
  • cylinder head;
  • oil pump;
  • water pump (only on engines up to 2001);
