Replacing the air filter element
1. The air filter housing is located on the front of the engine compartment. When replacing the element, first disconnect the air flow meter connector on the top cover of the filter housing, then release the wiring by pulling its retainer out of the support bracket (see figure 33.1, a, b).

2. Loosen the air outlet duct clamp and disconnect the air duct from the top cover of the filter housing.
3. Release the spring clips and remove the top cover from the filter housing (see Figure 33.3, a, b).

4. Remove the filter element, remembering the position in which it was installed (see Figure 33.4).

5. Wipe the inside of the filter housing and cover with a clean cloth.
6. Install the new filter element into the air filter housing, making sure it is seated correctly, then install the top cover and secure it with the spring clips.
7. Connect the air outlet duct to the top cover of the filter housing.
8. Connect the air flow meter wiring connector and secure it with the clamp.
