Removal



1. Remove the gearbox lever.

2. Disconnect the breather hose.

3. Raise the car.



4. Remove the shield (the arrows show the shield bolts).

5. Drain the oil from the transfer case.

6. Remove the drive shafts.



7. Disconnect the hoses and all wiring connectors from the box. Move the wires to the side.

8. Place a support under the transmission (gearbox). Do not remove the support until the gearbox is installed.

9. Loosen the transfer case support bolts.

10. Remove the cross member.

11. Place a support under the transfer case; it is recommended to secure the case with chains.

12. Unscrew the 8 bolts securing the gearbox to the transmission housing.

13. Make sure all necessary parts are disconnected and move the box back, keeping it horizontal. After the drive shaft comes out, lower the box and remove it from under the car.




14. If the box is to be changed, remove the front axle indicator lamp switch, the demultiplier indicator lamp switch (photo on the left) and speed sensor (photo on the right). Move these parts to the new box.

15. Check the condition of the rubber rings (arrows) of the speed sensor, replace if necessary.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Tighten the box bolts to the specified torque.
