1. Place the vehicle on a flat, horizontal surface.

2. Unscrew the filler plug. Make sure that the oil level in the gearbox housing is under the edge of the filler plug hole. If necessary, add oil to the housing.

3. To drain the oil, unscrew the filler and drain plugs. The gearbox must be warmed up. (Be careful not to burn yourself with hot oil) After draining the oil, screw in and tighten the drain plug.

Note: For the location of the plugs, see the assembly drawing in the chapter "Manual gearbox". The gearbox type is stamped on the aluminum plate attached to the engine compartment bulkhead in the line "TRANS/AXLE".

  • 2WD models
    • C50, C52 and C58
      • Oil class according to API — GL-4, GL-5
      • Recommended viscosity according to SAE - 75W-90
      • Refueling volume (when replacing)
        • C50, C52 - 2.6 l
        • C58 - 1.9 l
    • S50, S54 and S55
      • Oil class according to API — GL-3, GL-4 and DEXRONII
      • Recommended viscosity according to SAE - 75W-90
      • Refueling volume (when replacing) — 2.6 l
  • 4WD models
    • Oil class according to API — GL-5
    • Recommended viscosity according to SAE - 75W-90
    • Refueling volume (when replacing) — 5l



4. After installing the filler plug, check the gearbox and transfer case for oil leaks or damage.
