Hinges and locks — maintenance [Toyota Highlander XU20]
Hinges and latches for doors, hood and trunk lid (or the tailgate) should be lubricated every 5,000 km or every three months. This is done by adding a few drops of liquid oil or special lubricant for locks. A thin layer of consistent lubricant should be applied to the mating parts of the locks, which reduces wear and ensures trouble-free operation. For lubricating door locks and the trunk lid/luggage compartment door, it is recommended to use a special graphite lubricant supplied in aerosol cans.
