Attention! Cars are equipped with security systems (SRS), including airbags and seat belt tensioners. Before carrying out work near the shock sensors, the instrument panel and the steering column, first disconnect the negative and then the positive terminals from the battery and wait 2 minutes. This will prevent unauthorized deployment of the airbags and deployment of the seat belt pretensioners, which could cause injury.
Remove the hood lock as follows:
Pic. 14.2. Location of the hood lock bolts
Mark the position of the hood latch bolts with a marker (see fig. 14.2). Turn out bolts and remove the lock from the forward cross panel.
Pic. 14.3. Disconnecting the cable sheath from the hood lock housing
Disconnect the cable sheath from the hood lock housing and the cable from the lock latch (pic. 14.3).
Install in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following: adjust the position of the lock so that the gaps between the front of the hood and the wings are the same, and the rubber stops are slightly compressed when the hood is closed.
Remove the cable for opening the hood lock as follows:
In the passenger compartment, remove the upholstery panel located under the instrument panel on the driver's side.
Pic. 14.4. Disconnecting the cable from the hood release handle: A - the place of attachment of the cable sheath; B - the place of attachment of the cable to the release lever; C - retainer
Lift the hood release handle up and disconnect the cable sheath from the handle bracket, then disconnect the cable from the release lever (pic. 14.4).
If the release lever with handle is to be replaced, pull the handle outward and press down to release it from the retainer and detach it from the instrument panel.
Tie a thin long cord to the cable. In the future, the cord will be required to retract the hood opening cable into place.
In the engine compartment, disconnect the cable and cable sheath from the hood latch. Release the cable from the clips on the front cross member and along the fender.
Pull the cable into the engine compartment until the cord appears, then untie the cord from the old cable and attach it to the new cable.
At the cord, pull the new cable through the bulkhead of the engine compartment until it reaches the hood release handle, then untie the cord.
In the car, connect the cable to the release lever, and attach the cable sheath to the handle bracket.
If, when installing the cable, the sealing ring has shifted from the bulkhead of the engine compartment, use your fingers to install it in place.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
