Warning! The models of vehicles covered in this manual are equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS). Before performing any work near the air bag unit, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS to avoid injury from accidental deployment (see On-board electrical equipment). The SRS circuit wiring is easily identified by the yellow color of the insulation.
1. Remove the decorative radiator grille (see section Removal and installation the decorative radiator grille).

2. Trace the latch assembly with a marker or scriber to ensure proper installation during assembly. Remove the mounting bolts (refer to illustration) and remove the latch from the radiator support beam.
3. After pressing the latch, disconnect the drive cable from it.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. To adjust the lock, loosen the fastening bolts and adjust the position of the latch accordingly. Make sure that the fasteners are tightened securely.
5. To replace the drive cable, "walk" along it from the latch to the engine compartment bulkhead, releasing it from all the provided intermediate clamps and guide brackets.

6. Go into the passenger compartment and remove the left section of the lower instrument panel trim (see section Removal and installation of trim and main sections of the instrument panel). Separate the hood release lever from the instrument panel (refer to the accompanying illustration).
7. Separate the drive cable end from the lever.
8. Tie a piece of string to the end of the cable and pull the assembly into the engine compartment.
9. Untie the rope from the remaining string threaded through the bulkhead.
10. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
