Open the hood and place a clean rag under the corners to protect the vehicle's paintwork when the hood is removed.
Disconnect the hose and electrical connectors from the washer nozzle.
Tie a thin, long cord to the hose and electrical connector.
Pull the electrical wiring and hose out of the hood, untie the cord from them, leave it in the hood. In the future, the cord will be required to install the electrical wiring and hose in the hood.
Pic. 14.1. An arrangement of bolts of fastening of the hinge of a cowl
Mark the position of the hinges on the hood with a marker (pic. 14.1).
Ask an assistant to support the hood in the open position, unscrew the bolts securing the left and right hood hinges and, being careful, remove the hood.
Install the hood in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
With two assistants, install the hood and tighten the hood hinge bolts by hand.
Align the hood hinges according to the previously made marks and tighten the hood mounting bolts.
Adjust the hood as follows:
Close the hood and check its position relative to adjacent surfaces. To adjust, loosen the hood hinge bolts and move the hood to adjust its position.
After adjustment, tighten the hood hinge bolts.
Note. Note that factory-installed bolts do not allow for adjustment, so replace these bolts with standard flat lock washers to make adjustments.
Mark the position of the hinges on the hood with a marker to get an idea of how far to move the hood.
After adjustment, close the hood and check its position relative to adjacent surfaces.
To adjust the front of the hood in height, as well as to adjust the gaps between the front of the hood and the fenders, you can change the position of the hood latch.
Pic. 14.2. Location of the hood lock bolts
Mark the position of the hood latch bolts with a marker (pic. 14.2). Loosen the bolts and, moving the lock, set it to a position in which the gaps between the front of the hood and the wings will be the same and uniform along the entire length.
After adjustment, tighten the hood lock bolts.
To adjust the height of the front part of the hood, screw in or out the rubber stops located on the sides on the front transverse panel on models up to 2001 and in the front of the hood on models from 2001, as well as by adjusting the position of the hood latch. To increase the height of the hood, rotate the rubber stops clockwise, and to decrease - counterclockwise.
