If an old belt is installed, it must be checked for wear and damage. If the belt edges are frayed, there are cracks and tears in the fabric, the belt should be replaced. When putting the belt on, make sure that the belt lies correctly on all pulleys.

Engines with a working volume of 1.3 l since 8/84 and 1.6 l (4A-GE, 4A-GEL)

Reinforced V-belt for generator and coolant pump drive

Loosen the generator support shaft and lock screw nuts.

Remove the reinforced V-belt.

Install the new belt and tighten the nut and lock screw.

Check the belt tension between the generator and coolant pump pulleys. When pressing the belt with a force of 100 N (~10 kg), which corresponds to strong pressure of the thumb, a new belt should bend by 3.5-4.5 mm, a used one - by 5-6 mm.

V-ribbed reinforced belt for servo booster pump drive (engines 4A-GE, 4A-GEL)

Loosen the lock nut of the adjusting screw on the tension roller and loosen the tension of the roller. Remove the belt from the pulleys.

Place the V-belt on the pulleys and tighten the roller with the adjusting screw.

Check the belt tension between the crankshaft and servo pump pulleys. When pressing the belt with a force of 100 N (~10 kg), which corresponds to strong pressure of the thumb, a new belt should bend by 6-8 mm, a used one by 8-10 mm.

Engines with a working volume of 1.3 l up to 7/84 of production and 1.6 l (4A-L, 4A-F, 4A-FE)

Reinforced V-belt for generator and coolant pump drive

Loosen the generator pivot pin nut and tension roller (Fig. G-1079).

Remove the reinforced V-belt.

Put on a new belt and tighten the nuts and locking screw.

Check the belt tension between the generator pulley and the coolant pump. When pressing the belt with a force of 100 N (~10 kg), which corresponds to strong pressure of the thumb, a new belt should bend by 8.5-10.5 mm, a used one by 10-12 mm.

Reinforced V-belt for servo pump drive (4A-L, 4A-F, 4A-FE)

Loosen the mounting bolts of the mounting lever and tilt the pump towards the engine. Remove the belt.

Place the belt on the pulleys and tighten.

Check the belt tension between the pump and servo pump pulleys. When pressing the belt with a force of 100 N (~10 kg), which corresponds to strong pressure of the thumb, a new belt should bend by 5-6 mm, a used one by 6-8 mm.

Secure the tension lever.

1.8L Diesel

Reinforced V-belt for generator and coolant pump drive

Loosen the generator tilt axis and adjusting screw.

Tilt the generator towards the engine and remove the V-belt.

Install the new belt and tighten the nut and lock screw.

Check the belt tension between the crankshaft and generator pulleys. When pressing the belt with a force of 100 N (~10 kg), which corresponds to strong pressure of the thumb, a new belt should bend by 9-11 mm, a used one by 12-14 mm.

Reinforced V-belt for servo pump drive

Loosen the tension roller adjusting screw and remove the drive belt.

Place the belt on the pulleys and tighten it with the adjusting screw.

Check the belt tension between the crankshaft and servo pump pulleys. When pressing the belt with a force of 100 N (~10 kg), which corresponds to strong pressure of the thumb, a new belt should bend by 11-14 mm, a used one by 15-18 mm.
