The 2.0L 1AZ-FE engine has been installed in RAV4 vehicles since 2001. This engine is a new design, with an aluminum cylinder block and oil pan. The cylinder head has two overhead camshafts (DOHC) with four valves per cylinder. The camshafts are driven by a chain from the crankshaft.
Before working on the engine, clean the engine compartment and engine with a degreaser. This will make any work much easier to perform.
To improve access to the engine, it is advisable to remove the hood. Protect the fenders with covers to prevent damage to the paintwork.
