Warning! Gasoline is extremely flammable, when working with fuel system components, the use of fire, sparking devices, open flammable light devices and smoking is prohibited. Avoid sparks when handling wires and electrical devices.
Warning! Since gasoline is a carcinogen, it must be prevented from getting on the body and the paintwork of the car. Otherwise, wash the affected area immediately with soap and water.
Attention! The fuel system is under constant pressure, so be sure to depressurize the fuel system before disconnecting the lines.
Release pressure in the fuel system as follows:
- remove the plug from the filler neck of the fuel tank, as a result of which the pressure in the fuel tank will equalize with atmospheric pressure;
- to access the fuel pump/level sensor assembly, remove the rear seat and hatch cover. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump/level sensor block;
- start the engine and let it run until it stops due to lack of fuel in the fuel distribution line;
- turn off the ignition and disconnect the wire «masses» from the battery.
As a result of the actions performed, the pressure in the fuel system is relieved. Cover any fuel system connection with a clean rag and, being careful, slowly loosen the union nut.
After working on the fuel system, connect the electrical connector to the fuel pump/level sensor assembly and wire «masses» to the battery.
