Removing
Attention! Some cars are equipped with an airbag, which is located in a container in the center of the steering wheel. To prevent accidental activation of the system, turn the ignition switch to the Lock position, disconnect the battery from the ground and wait at least 2 minutes.
1. Set the steering wheel to the straight ahead position and disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Disable air bag container (if provided) (see subsection 11.44).
3. Pry off and remove the plugs located on the side of the steering wheel.
4. Loosen the screws (cross head) fastening the container with an airbag. Unscrew the screws so that the groove of the screw goes into the edge of the shell. Stop loosening screws immediately.
5. Raise the body.
6. Release the latch and remove the airbag connector.
7. Disconnect all connectors. which can interfere with the removal of the steering wheel (e.g. horn connector).
8. Unscrew the nut and mark the position of the steering wheel relative to the shaft.
9. Press the steering wheel with a puller. It is forbidden to remove the steering wheel by hitting the hub.
Warning! After removing the steering wheel, it is forbidden to turn the shaft (or wheels), as the alignment of the spiral wire will be disturbed and the wire will break, due to which the airbag will not work in an accident. In case of accidental violation, restore the centering before installing the steering wheel.
10. Check the alignment of the coiled pad wire.
11. To do this, make sure that the wheels are set in a straight position and turn the coil body counterclockwise until it stops and unscrew it 3 turns clockwise, aligning the marks.
Installation
12. The steering wheel is installed in the reverse order.
13. Align the marks and tighten the nut to the specified torque.
