On engines 4E-FE, 4A-FE, 7A-FE
Turn the ignition key to the START position and depress the throttle pedal. Hold the key and pedal for no more than 15 seconds, then release. Then take your foot off the pedal and start again.
On Model 2E engines
Press the throttle pedal and hold for 15-20 seconds. Then try to start the engine without taking your foot off the pedal. It is not allowed to press the pedal, it must only be held near the floor.
If the engine does not start after 15 seconds of starter operation, turn off the starter, wait a few minutes, then try again.
Models 4E-FE, 4A-FE, and 7A-FE will require repair or adjustment if they fail to start.
If a type 2E motor fails to start, follow the above procedure and try the following.
1. Remove the spark plugs and dry the electrodes.
2. Turn the ignition key to the START position and depress the throttle pedal. Hold the key and pedal for no more than 15 seconds, then release.
3. Close the spark plugs.
4. With your foot off the pedal, try to start the engine.
5. If the engine does not start, adjustment or repair is necessary.
