1. If the engine will be started from the battery of another car, then the car bodies should not touch. Disable all extraneous consumers (lighting fixtures and additional electrical equipment).
2. If necessary, remove the plugs from the auxiliary and dead battery sections.
3. Cover holes with rags (this measure is necessary in order to reduce the risk of explosion and personal injury).
4. Start the car engine with the extra battery, after a few minutes bring the speed up to 2000 rpm.
5. Connect the starter cables in the order shown in the illustration: the positive pole of the discharged battery with the positive pole of the additional battery, connect the negative pole of the additional battery to the engine or to ground. First connect the cable to the positive pole of the discharged battery and then to the positive pole of the battery. Then connect the cable to the negative pole of the additional battery and to an unpainted solid ground, away from the discharged battery (e.g. for the engine mounting hook). Starter cables must not be placed near moving parts.
6. (Item applies to diesels only). Recharge a depleted battery with an auxiliary battery by maintaining the engine speed of the vehicle with the auxiliary battery at 2000 rpm for 5 minutes.
7. Start your engine in the normal way. After starting, bring the speed up to 2000 rpm.
8. Carefully disconnect the cables in reverse order: negative first, then positive.
9. Dispose of the rags that covered the batteries, which may be stained with electrolyte.
10. Wrap section plugs (if they turned away).
11. If the apparent cause of battery drain is not known (for example, if you don't remember leaving the car with the headlights on for a long time), then check the battery.
