Pic. 15.59. Location of exterior mirror control components: 1 - electric motors located in the mirror housings; 2 – the block ECU located from outside the forward passenger; 3 - ignition lock; 4 - switch for adjusting the position of the exterior mirrors; 5 - fuse box on the driver's side
2 electric motors are used to adjust the position of each outside rear-view mirror: one for vertical adjustment, the second for horizontal adjustment (pic. 15.59).
The switch has a selector that energizes either the right or left mirror.
Check the drive of external rear-view mirrors as follows.
Turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Lower the front windows and alternately turn the mirrors in the vertical and horizontal planes, listening to the sound of running engines.
If the motor runs but the mirror does not move, the mirror drive mechanism may be faulty. Remove and disassemble the mirror to determine the cause of the problem.
If the mirrors do not move and you do not hear the operation of the motors, check the integrity of the fuse.
If the fuse is good, remove the switch from the instrument panel and check its condition.
In accordance with the electrical diagrams, check the connection of the wires of the mirrors connected to «weight».
If the mirror still does not work, remove it and check the power supply to the mirror.
If there is no voltage even in one position of the switch, check the electrical circuit between the mirror and the switch.
If voltage is present at all operating positions of the switch, remove the mirror and check the operation of the electric motors by connecting them with additional wires to the battery. If the motors are not running, replace the mirror.
