- remove the gearbox;
- remove the flywheel/drive plate;
- mark the position and installation depth of the old sealing ring;

- use a special tool or a large screwdriver to remove the sealing ring from the cylinder block (figure 3.96). To make it easier to remove the sealing ring, use a sharp knife to cut off the working edge from the reinforced base around the entire perimeter of the sealing ring. Be careful not to damage the seal ring seat and the crankshaft;
- clean the seal ring seat and crankshaft journal. Lubricate the outer surface and the working lip of the sealing ring with engine oil;

- using a tubular mandrel with an outside diameter slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the ring, install the sealing ring into place (figure 3.97). Check that the ring is installed without distortion and to the same depth as the previously installed ring;
- install the flywheel/drive plate;
- install the gearbox.
