- remove the pulley / vibration damper from the crankshaft;
- mark the position and installation depth of the old sealing ring;
Pic. 3.87. Removing the crankshaft front O-ring from the chain cover
- Remove the O-ring from the chain cover with a special tool or a large screwdriver (pic. 3.87). Be careful not to damage the chain cover and crankshaft;
- clean the o-ring seat. Lubricate the outer surface of the O-ring with engine oil;
- tubular mandrel, with an outer diameter slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the ring, install the sealing ring in place. Check that the ring is installed without distortion and at the same depth as the previously installed ring;
Pic. 3.88. Installing the bushing on the pulley hub/vibration damper
- check the condition of the surface on the pulley/damper hub in contact with the O-ring. If there are grooves on the surface of the hub from prolonged contact with the sealing ring, to restore the surface, install the bushing supplied in spare parts on the hub (pic. 3.88). The sleeve can be installed by pressing with a hammer through a block of wood;
- lubricate the hub or bushing on the hub with fresh engine oil and install the pulley/vibration damper on the crankshaft;
- install a special device on the pulley / vibration damper that fixes it from turning, and with a socket wrench with a large shoulder, screw in the central bolt and tighten it with a torque of 170 Nm.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
