Removal
Proceed with removal in the following order:
- turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery;
- remove the accessory drive belt;
- apply the parking brake and block the rear wheels with chocks;
- loosen the right front wheel mounting nuts. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands. Remove the right front wheel and the right front wheel arch mudguard;
Figure 3.85. Using the special device to secure the pulley/vibration damper from rotating and loosening the central bolt
- install a special device on the pulley/vibration damper to prevent it from turning, and use a socket wrench with a large shoulder to unscrew the central bolt (figure 3.85);
- screw in the central bolt a few turns of thread and use a puller to remove the pulley/vibration damper from the crankshaft. Remove the center bolt and pulley/damper from the vehicle.
Caution! Do not use a puller that attaches to the outside of the pulley/damper, as this will damage the damper.
Installation
Perform installation in the following order:
Figure 3.86. Crankshaft key location for securing pulley/vibration damper
- manually install the pulley/vibration damper onto the engine crankshaft as tightly as possible, aligning the keyway on the pulley with the crankshaft key (figure 3.86);
- install a special device on the pulley/vibration damper to prevent it from turning, and use a socket wrench with a large shoulder to screw in the central bolt and tighten it to a torque of 170 N·m.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
