In this case, it is necessary to clean the outer surface of the evaporator using disinfectants and deodorants. It should be borne in mind that access to the evaporator is very difficult, therefore, at the service station, the operation to remove the fungus is quite laborious and lengthy.
However, there is the easiest and most affordable way to get rid of odors and fungus. Purchase an effective disinfectant spray for automotive air conditioning systems. Turn on the air conditioning system for 10 minutes in recirculation mode (RECIRC) with a fan running at the highest speed. Remove the cabin ventilation filter and insert the aerosol nozzle in place of the filter by turning it to the left towards the evaporator. Spray the product in accordance with its instructions for use. Turn the tip in different directions so that the product gets on the largest possible surface of the evaporator.

After cleaning the evaporator to prevent the recurrence of fungus, check the condition of the drain tube of the air conditioning evaporator casing (see fig. 4.31). If necessary, clean the drain tube with a soft wire.
