Caution! The jack supplied with your vehicle's tool kit is intended only for use in replacing a damaged tire or installing safety stands. Never work under the vehicle or start the engine if the jack is the only support device.

Place the car on a flat, solid, horizontal surface and set the automatic transmission selector lever to the Park position (shift lever to Reverse position in models with manual transmission). Apply the parking brake.

Position the jack under an appropriate support point under the vehicle. The front support point on models prior to 2000 is located behind the front wheel, under the rear lower control arm mounting bushing; on models produced since 2001, the front support point is located under the rear lower control arm mounting bolt. The rear support point is located under the trailing arm of the suspension; it is accessible from the front of the car (see figure 1, 2, 3).

Figure 1. Front jacking point (place a jack under the rear mounting bushing of the front suspension lower arm) — models produced before 2000.

Figure 2. Front jacking point (place a jack under the rear mounting bolt of the front suspension lower arm) — models produced since 2001.

Figure 3. Rear jacking point (place a jack under the rear suspension trailing arm) - all models.

Raise the car with a jack until the wheels are off the ground. Next, you need to install safety supports under the jacking points, raising one side of the car enough to install a safety support on the other side.
