When dismantling heavy components such as the engine or gearbox, the vehicle's center of gravity may shift. To stabilize the vehicle, use the load by placing it in such a way that it cannot move; or use an additional jack.
Pic. 1.151. Special rubber pads on the supports
Always use wheel chocks when using the jack and supports on horizontal surfaces. Use supports with rubber pads, as shown in Figure 1.151.
Pic. 1.152. Vehicle jacking points
The jack should be installed at the point intended for this, as shown in Figure 1.152.
When raising the front wheels, lower the parking brake lever and set the wheel chocks behind the rear wheels only. When raising the rear wheels, place wheel chocks in front of the front wheels only. The jack must be used in conjunction with the support. When lifting only the front or only the rear wheels, install wheel chocks on both sides of the wheels that are on the ground.

After making sure that there are no people in the car, raise it to a height sufficient to install a spare tire (pic. 1.153).
Note. When using a four post lift, follow the safety procedures described in the lift manual. Take precautions so that the wheel beam does not damage the tires or wheels. Use wheel chocks to prevent vehicle movement.
