Checking the condition of CV joint boots and drive shafts

1. Poor condition of the anthers can lead to premature failure of the CV joint (constant velocity joint) out of order, which will require expensive repairs or even its replacement. It is a good idea to wash the anthers with a soap solution, since rubber quickly decomposes under the influence of oils. Being in constant motion, anthers are subject to accelerated wear, so their condition must be checked regularly.

2. Check the condition of the CV joint boots (two on each drive shaft). There should be no cracks, punctures, delamination of rubber or loose clamps. If the anthers are damaged, they should be replaced, while checking the condition of the CV joints (see chapter 8).

Figure 20.2. By bending the drive shaft boot, check for cracks and/or grease leaks.
