Numbering of conclusions of a socket of the switch of heating of back glass
Checking the operation of the rear window defroster timer
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Pry and remove the switch from the panel and disconnect the connector.
3. Check for continuity between pins 1 and 3 of the relay side connector (see fig. Numbering of conclusions of a socket of the switch of heating of back glass). If there is no circuit between the terminals, then check the lamp.
4. Check the heater timer. To do this, connect () - battery terminal with terminal 2, and (-) - output - with output 4 switches, between () - Connect a 3.4 W lamp with the battery terminal and terminal 6 (see fig. Checking the operation of the rear window defroster timer). Press the switch - the test and control lamps of the switch should light up and go out after 12-18 minutes. Otherwise, replace the switch.
5. Check the circuit at the connector side of the switch.
6. Between terminal 4 and ground, the circuit must be constant.
7. When the ignition key is in the ACC or LOCK positions, there should be no voltage between pins 2 or 6 and ground.
8. When the ignition key is in the ON position, terminals 2 or 6 and ground should be energized.
9. Connect pins 4 and 6 and check that the heater is working properly.
10. If the results of one of the checks are negative, then replace the switch.
11. Check the heater relay - there should be a circuit between terminals 1 and 2. When powering pins 1 and 2 (12 V) the circuit must be between terminals 3 and 5. The relay is located in the fuse box in the passenger compartment.
12. If the results of one of the checks are negative, then replace the relay.
