Fan impeller and fluid coupling — inspection, removal and installation [Toyota 4Runner N120]

1. If cracks are found on the blades or the impeller has play on the shaft, replace the impeller.

2. If a leak is detected from the coupling, or if the impeller rotates too freely or too tightly, replace the coupling. On a warm engine, a slight resistance to impeller rotation is permissible.

3. Remove the fan shroud bolts.



4. Unscrew the nuts (indicated by arrows).



5. Remove the impeller. Remove the casing.



6. Unscrew the nuts (arrows) and remove the impeller from the fluid coupling hub.

7. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
