Installation of compression rings
Rings are marked (1 (2) T or 1 (2) N for 4-cylinder engines and 1 (2) R or T1 (t2) for V6).
Installation
1. Before installing new piston rings, sort the rings and check the gap in the joints. To do this, push the ring through the piston head. The ring should be at the bottom of the cylinder, in the position corresponding to the bottom dead center.
2. Measure the gap at the joints. If the gap is too small, then replace the ring; it is forbidden to file the ends.
3. Install the rings on the piston, starting with the oil scraper. Install the spacer/expander into the groove.
4. Make sure you have a pin (if provided) and install the lower and upper disks. When installing oil scraper discs, it is impossible to use a device for dressing rings, as they may break.
5. Make sure the top and bottom discs turn freely in the groove. Install the middle and top rings (see fig. Installation of compression rings). The marks on the rings must face the piston crown. Install the rings on the remaining pistons.
