Removing
1. Remove the N1 chain tensioner, guide, N1 sprocket and camshaft chain.
2. Lock the balance shaft chain tensioner plunger with a pin (1).
3. Turn away a bolt and remove a damper N2.
4. Turn away bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove damper N3.
5. Loosen the nut (arrow) and remove the chain tensioner.
6. Loosen the bolt and remove the upper shaft drive gear and chain.
7. Turn away bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove damper N4.
Examination
Chain and gears
1. The chain and gears change as a set. The gear is pressed from the shaft. Clear the details.
2. Check the condition of the parts. Replace if signs of wear are found.
3. The chain should be changed after the end of the run or in case of noticeable damage, as well as in the presence of link play.
Balance shaft
4. Check the end play of the shaft by moving it back and pulling it out.
5. Remove both shafts.
6. Carefully check the condition of the shafts (if necessary, contact a car service).
Installation
Attention! Before installing the balance shafts, it is necessary to install the crankshaft, pistons with connecting rods and set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke, so that the counterweights of the balance shafts are at the bottom.
1. Install the shafts and tighten the cover bolts.
2. Install a dampener.
3. Install the balance chain by aligning the marks (2) on the crankshaft sprocket (1) and on the balance shaft gear (3) with distinctive chain links. Place another distinguishing link opposite the large alignment mark of the balance shaft drive gear. Insert the pinion shaft into the hole in the balance shaft thrust plate. Align the small marks on the drive gear with the marks on the balance shaft gear.
4. Tighten the drive gear bolt to the specified torque.
5. Install damper N3, then damper N2, tightening the bolts. Remove the pin from the plunger.
