Warning! The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), commonly known as the air bag system. To prevent accidental air bag deployment, which could result in injury, be sure to disable the air bag system before working near air bag components (see paragraph 25).


1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see paragraph 1 of chapter 5).

2. Remove the instrument panel trim panel (see chapter 11).

3. Loosen the screws securing the instrument panel (Fig. 10.3) and pull the instrument panel toward the steering wheel.

4. Disconnect the electrical connectors on the back of the panel (Fig. 10.4).

5. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
