Inspect and replace fuel cap gasket (every 48,000 km or 3 years) [Toyota Highlander XU20]

1. Remove the fuel filler cap and inspect the rubber gasket for cracks or tears.

2. If replacement is necessary, carefully pry the "old" gasket out of the recess (Fig. 18.2). Be very careful not to damage the sealing surface inside the cover.



3. Install the new gasket into the groove on the cover.

4. Install the cover and then remove it, making sure the gasket provides a seal around the entire perimeter.
