Attention! If the vehicle is equipped with electronically controlled air suspension, turn off the suspension height control switch.
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and place secure supports under it. Place wheel chocks under the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling off the stands. Release the parking brake and place the transmission in neutral.
2. Drain the oil from the rear axle (see chapter 1).
3. Remove the axle shafts from the differential (see paragraph 2).
4. Apply reference marks (in front of each other) on the flange of the cardan shaft and the flange of the differential drive gear, then unscrew the bolts securing the cardan shaft to the flange (see paragraph 4). Hang the driveshaft with a piece of wire (do not let it hang on the intermediate support).
5. Remove the rear exhaust pipe assembly (see chapter 4).
6. Support the differential with a floor jack. Remove the support bracket and remove the differential mounting bolts (pic. 5.6). Slowly lower the jack and remove the differential from under the vehicle.
Pic. 5.6. Differential mounting bolts
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Tighten all bolts to the specified torque given in the Specifications at the beginning of this chapter. Fill the rear axle with the prescribed oil (see chapter 1).
