Note. Recommended interval: every 24,000 km or 12 months.
Protective covers for constant velocity joints (SHRUS) perform a very important role, preventing water and dirt from entering the CV joints. If fuel or grease comes into contact with the protective boot, it can be destroyed, so it is recommended to wash it with soap and water.

Raise the car on a lift, hanging the front wheels. Turn the steering wheel to the right or left as far as it will go and turn the wheel. Inspect the CV joint rubber boots by squeezing to open the folds (pic. 2.26). Check them for cracks, which can lead to lubricant leakage and water and dirt ingress. Check the condition of the fastening clamps, inspect the covers of the internal hinges and casings on the other side. Replace damaged protective cover immediately.
Check up a condition of hinges of equal angular speeds: having fixed a power shaft, try to turn a wheel. Try again while holding the inner CV joint and turning the drive shaft. Any noticeable play indicates wear on the pivot, wear in the shaft slots, or a loose shaft lock nut.
